Cooper King Distillery arises from the travel experiences of Abbie and Chris that took them to Australasia. In whisky circles Tasmania has become known as the place with a host of quality craft distilleries, typically using smaller stills. A climate not so dissimilar to Scotland also helps the whisky maturing process.
Abbie and Chris have brought this approach to Yorkshire and are already producing highly acclaimed Gin. For the whisky they have specified 100% Yorkshire barley with malting at Britain’s oldest working maltings. The distillery being powered by 100% green energy and making use of a custom-made 900 litre copper pot still. Various packages are available for those that wish to buy maturing casks.
